Russia's Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline to Germany has been suspended for routine maintenance, Gazprom confirmed on August 31.
"The Nord Stream 1 pipeline has been suspended because the compressor station started maintenance work today," Gazprom wrote on social media on Aug. 31. The two German operators that receive gas from the Nord Stream 1 pipeline said supplies stopped at 00:00 and 1:00 GMT on August 31.
This is the second suspension of Nord Stream 1 after a 10-day interruption in July. According to Gazprom, the overhaul of the only operational turbine at the Poltovaya compressor station will be carried out jointly with experts from Germany's Siemens AG 39bet-đua chó-game giải trí -đá gà-đá gà trực tuyến-đánh bài.
Siemens had previously repaired the compressor and turbine at the compressor station. In response to this part repair, the spokesperson of this company responded on August 31, but at the present stage did not participate in it. However, "if Gazprom asks, our experts will provide advice".
After the overhaul, Gazprom said, the current gas supply of 33 million cubic meters per day would be restored if "no technical faults occur." Gas supply is expected to resume at 0100 GMT on 3 September.
Completed in 2011, the Nord Stream 1 pipeline runs from Vyborg in Russia to Germany under the Baltic Sea, delivering Russian natural gas to many European Union countries. Gazprom is the largest shareholder in Nord Stream.
On the suspension of Nord Stream 1, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on August 31 that European sanctions against Russia were the cause of the situation. A day earlier, he said there was nothing holding Russia back from supplying gas other than the sanctions imposed by European countries, the U.S. and Canada that prevented it from carrying out routine maintenance and completing the registration and assembly of returned components.
